Meet our guides at the Hotel Meliá and enjoy a panoramic bus tour of the city, passing by the City of Arts and Sciences and ending at the Serranos Towers, where the walking tour will begin. Discover the historic heart of València from a new perspective: through its light. On this guided sunset walk, we’ll explore how the city blends heritage, contemporary design, and lighting planning. We’ll visit iconic spaces in the historic center, paying special attention to both functional and ornamental urban lighting, and how it transforms the city as night falls.
The tour will highlight València’s recognition as World Design Capital 2022 and its legacy in design and innovation.
We’ll see the Serranos Towers (the city gates), Plaza de la Virgen (where we’ll delve into the history and evolution of the historic center), and observe the ornamental lighting of the Basilica, Cathedral and the Turia Fountain. At the Palace of the Generalitat, we’ll see how new lighting technologies are integrated into heritage sites. Calle de la Paz is an example of commercial and decorative lighting, balancing pedestrian traffic, commerce, and visual comfort. Plaza del Patriarca showcases the design of public squares as spaces for both natural and artificial lighting—a dialogue between classic and contemporary styles. Lastly, Calle San Vicente and Plaza del Ayuntamiento reveal iconic urban spaces with large-scale lighting design.
The experience will conclude on a scenic terrace, where guests can enjoy a drink while watching the sunset over the rooftops of the city and witnessing the transition from natural to artificial light.
