Positions Available on 2026 IALD Board of Directors + IALD Membership Committee

The IALD Nominations + Elections Committee seeks nominations for individuals considered for service on the 2026 IALD Board of Directors and the IALD Membership Committee.

A voting member of the IALD may nominate candidates for any or all positions using the IALD nomination form. Self-nominations are permitted. You can email completed nomination forms to [email protected]. (See the form for complete instructions.) The IALD must receive all nominations by 11:59 P.M. (U.S. Central Time) on 30 May 2025.

Being nominated or self-nominated for a position on the IALD Board of Directors or Membership Committee as a potential candidate does not automatically place the nominee on the ballot. Rather, it includes them in the review process conducted by the IALD Nominations + Elections Committee. IALD Board of Directors: Open Positions

The Board of Directors governs Association affairs and sets the IALD's strategic direction. Members of the Board make high-level, strategic decisions that serve the needs of the global membership of the IALD.

Director at Large

[Two-year term, three positions open in 2026]

Directors at Large must be able to collaborate and work effectively with a diverse group of peers. Directors should participate in monthly Board meetings via videoconference and attend general member events such as the IALD Enlighten conferences and IALD Region + Chapter meetings. A Director at Large may be either a voting or non-voting member of the Association.

IALD Membership Committee: Open Positions

The IALD Membership Committee consists of five members: four members and the Membership Chair. The IALD Membership Committee recommends accepting or rejecting any applicant to voting and non-voting grades of membership. The Membership Committee can recommend assessments or revisions to voting and non-voting membership requirements by the IALD Board of Directors.

The Committee Chair leads the work of the IALD Membership Committee. The Chair must be a Fellow or Professional member of the Association.

IALD Membership Committee Members contribute to the functions of the Committee. A committee member must be a Fellow or Professional member of the Association.

IALD Volunteer Expectations + Responsibilities

Board Of Directors Expectations + Responsibilities:

The primary role of the IALD Board of Directors is governance. The Board of Directors is the ultimate legal authority of the IALD. It is the Board's responsibility to:

  • Determine and promote the IALD's mission and purpose.
  • Ensure effective organizational (strategic) planning.
  • Establish policies to carry out the IALD's mission, goals, and objectives.
  • Determine, monitor, and strengthen the IALD's programs and services.
  • Allocate adequate resources for programs and services.
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability.
  • Represent the entire global membership of the IALD.

To fulfill its governance role, the IALD Board of Directors meets monthly via videoconference. Board members should attend all meetings prepared and ready to discuss and act on scheduled agenda items, having reviewed all materials distributed prior.

The IALD Board of Directors sets the strategic direction and policy for the Association, and the IALD staff implements Board decisions through programs, services, and activities. It is the role of the IALD Chief Executive Officer and staff to maintain day-to-day financial and programmatic responsibility for the organization and, in this role, report to the IALD Board of Directors.

IALD Membership Committee Expectations + Responsibilities:

The primary role of the IALD Membership Committee is to accept or reject applicants for membership. The Committee meets monthly for 60 to 90 minutes via videoconference. The time commitment for this Committee can be significant: Committee members are responsible for reviewing and evaluating member applications between monthly meetings. In recent years, the Committee has reviewed an average of 30 applications monthly, with some applications taking as long as 30 minutes each.
