LIRC Ambassador Spotlight: Nicki Smith, Zumtobel

As key representatives of LIRC member companies, LIRC Ambassadors are among the highest-visibility profiles in the Lighting Industry Resource Council on the global stage. They work closely with the IALD Region + Chapter Coordinators to engage with the local lighting design community, bolster communications, promote events, encourage networking, and promote the IALD and LIRC.

This edition, the LIRC Ambassador Spotlight shines on Nicki Smith, Atelier of Light Project Manager with LIRC member company Zumtobel in London, United Kingdom.

With a background in sales, concept design, and project management, Nicki has been in the lighting community for over 25 years. Over the past two years, she has managed the Atelier of Light program for Zumtobel, a project that assures her that light can create the right environment for people to thrive, spark imagination, stir emotions, and create inspiring spaces.

Nicki believes it's currently more important than ever to maximize opportunities for in-person exchange. Her new role in the LIRC Ambassador program will help foster better relationships between LIRC members and the design community.

She says, "I look forward to being part of the movement that brings together both sides through networking events and industry conferences, fostering collaboration, and building bigger and better opportunities."

Nicki has volunteered on the development task force for IALD LERN for the past six years. She is excited to see a positive response from the lighting community and is eager for the upcoming launch.

"LERN is critical to facilitating knowledge sharing," she notes. "I look forward to conveying the importance of this program with both LIRC members and the design community."

Those interested in becoming an LIRC Ambassador or nominating a colleague can learn more about the program, the responsibilities and benefits of the role, and how to apply.
